Ramana Maharishi and Advaita: communion with Ramana

             The next day we retraced our steps back up to the cave house and, sitting down into quiet meditation, I fell into communion with Ramana’s great spirit once again.

            This day, however, would not only be a continuation from the previous day’s transmission, it would be a more advanced teaching into the realm of absolute advaita, of non-duality, of cosmic oneness.

            Ramana was a great adept and proponent of advaita, of the unity of all things. From pictures of him you can see in his eyes the love radiating out onto all existence which he knew to be himself. To look at a picture of Ramana Maharishi is to be in the presence of the eyes of love.

            What I learned from our communication during that second day I was not yet prepared to assimilate into my living reality at that point in time, but I knew it to be a great truth and message; what I understood from that communion were realizations which had been growing within me, but which had not yet become firmly established in my living existence.

            Nevertheless, I soon understood from Ramana’s transmissions that

            All this I had already known and learned a number of times in different ways in the past, but now it poured down upon me through the benevolent spirit of Ramana Maharishi, and it began to crystallize and whittle away at the old paradigm of division and mortality which I had been operating within since birth.

            At this point I was still under the assumption that the great division of the One Matter from the One Consciousness was a necessary duality within the individual and the cosmos; I felt that just as yin and yang are separate and yet one, so to the transcendental consciousness and immanent matter, must exist as distinct halves of the whole, within each of us, or the great dance of creation would lose its dynamism.
