Illegal camping on the island of Iona, Scotland

***

On the historically significant, and contemporarily insignificant island of Iona we camped on an isolated beach which had a sign that declared ‘No Camping’ on it, which is always a good indication that no one else will be around and that the spot will be spectacular. It always amazes me how many people will try to restrict another’s movements upon the earth, and generally how easy, and how necessary it is to disregard their claustrophobic inconsideration. I hope to God that someday there will be no more borders, no more fences, no more private or state owned land. But until that day arrives, I, for one, will do my best to live as if it has already come.
