Birth and death, the soul, heaven and earth

***

In a way, being born is more like death than dying. For the soul is immortal either way, but those souls who are now in ‘heaven’, so to speak, have retained memory of being on earth, whereas those souls now on earth have, for the most part, lost remembrance of ever being in heaven. And so, since all souls have been in both places, going to a fro through the portals of what we call birth and death, it would indeed seem that ‘birth’, due to its inherent amnesia of the continuity of the soul, is, by definition, the true death.
