Dark destinations on the path of the Motherly Buddha |
||

Meister Eckhart, dwelling on more subtle matters, describes it thus: "...how profitable it is to pursue this potentiality, until empty and innocent, a man is alone in that darkness of unselfconsciousness...and never retracing his steps."(sermon 4) And Osho declares: “Then your journey through life takes a new turn: you become someone else now; you are no longer the same that you were; everything within you is transformed. You have seen something new. Something new has happened to you, a ray has entered you, and now everything is different.” (In Search of the Miraculous, p246) When we are not looking for life to give something specific to us, to guide us to a certain destination, or to make us comfortable and secure, we loosen up and merge into the flow and the subtle movement (the stream of life, as it were), and by doing so we become supple and contiguous with the realm of the incredible. Destination creates bondage, which is why we say that we are ‘bound’ for such and such a place- because we are bound by our planned arrival. The kun byed rgyal po'i mdo (The Motherly Buddha) relates:
"The true nature which is non-intelligible and transcends intelligibility is neither an object of samadhi nor of non-contemplative thinking. It is not a desiring mind, and not a coveted result. It abides...as-it-is, free of intelligibility. This leads to ...a path which cannot be walked on. ...You will achieve the mastery of balance after entering this pure path with regard to the broad essence which does not immediately recognize [things]. ...Because the destination cannot be reached, the dimension of Reality knows no loss."
