Pride, mortality, love, meaning, and the media

Goodness is often a pragmatic way of avoiding the self.

Pride at a selfless act negates the selfless act.

Emotion lies over existence. To alter emotion does not alter existence.

3-D glasses translate a two dimensional image into the appearance of three dimensions, just as all senses translate the external world.

'Word' is the first metaphor, which we think of as the 'thing', when actually it is an interpretation-laden symbol.

Heaven is laborious, and Hell is a cheap place to live.

Mortality is an epidemic of thought, and modifies behavior as such.

Man cannot understand his situation, because he is 'in' it. This is part of the human predicament.

Man must love his enemies for his own sake, not theirs.

It is said that the addict, expecting different results, repeats the same behavior, over and over again. And we are the addicts of meaning.

The media is spectacle, and also filler mimicing spectacle.
