Existentialism, William Blake, salesmen, gurus, social reform, drowning, floating, and Freud

***

One acts as situations necessitate. One must choose not only himself, he must also choose his situation. A person is not removed from their situation.

William Blake: Man is simply a succession of states. Good and Evil can be predicted only of states, not of individuals, who, in fact, don't exist, except as places where states occur.

The salesman's job is to make people feel inadequate. The Guru's job is to make souls feel inadequate.

Social reform is prevention, not cure.

Drowning in necessity.

Floating in possibility.

Freud: social neurosis, the pathology of culture.
