Book: Poetry: doing, not-doing, effort, detachment: east and west: poem
A book excerpt from the Iconoclast Press online library.
doing
A football coach once declared that in order to tackle a strong opponent coming straight at you, you should not aim just for the man, but instead you must aim for a spot three feet behind him, only then will you have the inertia and power to take him down.
not-doing
None are ever killed going over the waterfall. It is because of the frantic, fruitless struggle, when one swims desperately trying not to go over; it is because of this- because of the futile effort at the crest- that none have the energy to swim safely to the welcoming shore.
