A man once awoke much more stupid and confused than when he had gone to bed. Unable now to reason correctly, he became anxious that this would be discovered and he would become a laughingstock, a village idiot. So he began studying texts, memorizing common phrases, and practicing confident eloquence.

Soon enough he was easily employing words and ideas his acquaintances used regularly. He remained bewildered for the rest of his life but continued on successfully with his previous existence. He died moronic and undiscovered. As did the rest of the world.
